UPDATE ON ELLEN ACTIVITIES

Today, nearly 6 years after starting to work on the legacy of Ellen Richards, we have made progress in ways we couldn’t imagine when we started.  Ellen and Joyce have traveled over 50,000 miles, made over 50 presentations to over 5,000 people, sold over 3,000 DVDs of her Life and Legacy, and raised in excess of $40,000 for the Centennial Campaign Fund. Today the Endowed Fund in Leadership continues to benefit from gifts from the Ellen Project. Ellen Richards continues to astound new followers and students in various studies as her story of amazing foresight and tenacity in the 19th Century is told over and over.  She did indeed blaze the trails for many women in science today.  While there are many women in various aspects of engineering and science today, they still lag way behind the men in numbers and percentages.   Just recently, data has shown a severe lack of women in computer sciences.  Recent efforts in the STEM promotions have helped, but women are still way under represented in the sciences.  As Ellen was wont to say, ” KEEP THINKING” and find ways to increase the presence of women in science and engineering.
